Thick & Thin

Introduction

The plural form is very simple in Turkish relative to other languages such as English or Arabic. There are only two forms with consistent rules.

Lesson Summary

Add -lar or -ler depending on which vowel group the letter closest to the end is.

Examples

Example 1:

Almost all words are very straightforward like the following words:

Çanta = bag

Kedi = cat

Ceket = jacket

Kalem = pen

çantalar

kediler

ceketler

kalemler

Example 2:

Others are a bit tricky because they rely on the sound which can be slightly different from the spelling in some extremely rare cases.

MeÅŸgul = Busy

Saat = Hour

meÅŸguller

saatler

Example 3:

However, if you're adding it to a pronoun that ends in a vowel, just like in other cases, you'd need to add an "n" before proceeding.

He/She/It... = O

O-n-lar
